Newsletter 6th February 2026
Dear Parent/ Carer,
Another week of lots of rainy conditions outside but lots of sunshine and positivity in school with some fabulous examples of learning. We are encouraging our children to “think hard” in their maths lessons and have introduced new challenges to really stretch all children’s mathematical reasoning.
Some lovely “Stars of the Week” today in assembly with certificates given for fabulous resilience, perseverance, progress in handwriting, kindness to others and more shining examples of our school values in action.
As next week is the final week of term, we are looking forward to seeing who the winning House Team will be, as well as the “Glow Up” disco for those children who have read at home 5 times every week this term!
We are also pleased to report that the infant building’s pipe / boiler issue will finally be repaired next week and we are assured that the boiler will be functional again very soon! Thank you all for your patience and understanding during this protracted process.
Sporting Success
Well done to our Key Stage Two sports hall athletics team from Years Three and Four who represented the school superbly this week in an event at Manor school in Raunds. The children participated brilliantly as a team and were really great sporting ambassadors; cheering and encouraging each other on during every event.
Proud pieces” and children’s writing
Below is an extract of lovely written content from Jacob in Year Three who has been writing a “Direct Narrative”:
“As you step into the calm forest, you see a bright rainbow high above the treetops. You explore the forest curiously. Feeling astonished, you notice the melodious frogs croaking, as happy as can be. With a deep breath, you step bravely further into the swaying trees. You are kindly surrounded by the welcoming hug of the softest creatures watching over you.”
Also attached are some examples of wonderful Year Two geography work from Ephraim, Phoebe and Indie comparing Earls Barton with Mugurameno village in Zambia.
Parents’ evening
Thank you to all those parents and carers who attended either a virtual or in-person parents’ evening appointment this week. We hope you found this a useful opportunity to discuss your child’s well-being, progress and attainment and ways we can work in partnership to further strengthen any target areas. The feedback we received on parents’ evening was overwhelmingly positive – so thank you for that! As ever, our wonderful Y6 House Captain tour guides did a fantastic job and also managed to encourage over 150 responses for our “Parent / Carer Survey.” The survey is still open and can still be accessed here for anyone who wishes to submit their views.
We had 33 people fail to turn-up for their virtual appointments on the Tuesday evening which wasted 330 minutes (5 ½ hours) of teachers’ time. For the teachers to now “catch-up” with these parents will be very difficult given teachers have other commitments before and after school most days, including running clubs, staff meetings, training, etc. We will review this for next time and may remove the virtual option as it seems these appointments are not as valued.
Unsafe parking around the school
Thank you to the parent who today submitted a report about a public vehicle seen stopped near a zebra crossing making it unsafe for cars and pedestrians. In the interest of the safety of our children, and everyone, you are encouraged, if you see unsafe and illegal parking, to please report it to the Police here. The more reports that are submitted, the more support we can expect from local enforcement to deal with this issue that affects the safety of our families. Thank you.
Neurodiversity event for parents of SEN pupils- Masking
Parents and Carers are invited to our upcoming Partnership for Inclusion of Neurodiversity in Schools (PINS) Tea and Talk session on Monday 9th February between 9-10am, open to all parents and carers of pupils under SEN Support. This session’s topic will be on Masking, and we are pleased to welcome Educational Psychologist Melissa Talbot, who will be leading the discussion. During the session, Melissa will explore what masking is, why children and young people may mask their needs or emotions, and how masking can appear in different environments such as school, home, and the wider community. After the main discussion, there will be time for questions and group conversation.
We hope you can join us for this informative and supportive session, please come to the school office where we will sign you in and escort you to ‘The Hive’.
Valentine sweetie cones
Our wonderful PTA will be selling Valentine treats after school on Friday 13th February as a fundraising event. There will be “love bugs” for 50p each and sweetie cones for £1 each and are available on a first come, first served basis.
Clothes & coat hangers required
We would greatly appreciate any clothing donations of any used school trousers, school shoes, trainers, socks and pants to use when children in Reception and Key Stage One have toileting accidents or need a change of clothes for other reasons. Items suitable for children aged 4 – 7 that you no longer need would be greatly appreciated. Please drop-off at the school office.
If you have any spare child or adult coat hangers that you are happy to donate to the school, please could they be handed to school office staff. Thank you.
